The Advisory Council held Monday its regular weekly session under the chairmanship of its Speaker HE Ahmed bin Abdullah bin Zaid Al Mahmoud.
At the outset of the session, HE Speaker of the Advisory Council Ahmed bin Abdullah bin Zaid Al Mahmoud, on his behalf and on behalf of the members of the Advisory Council, extended the deepest and sincere congratulations to HH the Amir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani on the occasion of the advent of the holy month of Ramadan, asking Allah the Almighty to bring back this holy month while HH the Amir and the people and residents of Qatar enjoying prosperity, glory and more achievements, and the Arab and Islamic nations enjoying security, peace and stability.
HE Ahmed bin Abdullah bin Zaid Al Mahmoud said that the Advisory Council, in its first session during this blessed month, recalls the unjust siege imposed on the country in this holy month last year, and praises with all pride and appreciation the efforts of HH the Amir for the dignity and honor of Qatar, and the support of the loyal Qatari people for its wise leadership, as well as the positions of the residents living on the land of Qatar, all of which enabled the country to achieve the great accomplishments made with the help of All the Almighty, and thanks to the wise guidance and sound policy of HH the Amir, which had the greatest impact in overcoming the effects of the unjust siege, continuing the process of development and prosperity, and moving towards the future with confidence and optimism.
The Advisory Council then considered the topics on its agenda. The Council discussed a draft law regulating non-Qatari ownership and usage of real estate.
The draft law provides for the establishment of a committee comprising representatives of a number of ministries and Qatar Chamber and two experienced experts to propose areas in which non-Qataris are allowed to own and use real estate, as well as the terms and conditions and any other terms of reference issued by the Cabinet.
The Advisory Council decided to refer the draft law to the Legal and Legislative Affairs Committee to study it and submit a report thereon to the Council.
