The Shura Council held this morning its regular weekly meeting under the chairmanship of His Excellency Mr. Ahmed Bin Abdulla Bin Zaid Al-Mahmoud, the Speaker of the Shura Council. The Council began its discussions of a draft law to identify certain tariffs on some types of imported steel similar to the types produced by the Qatar Steel Company.
The members of the Council stressed the importance of the draft law for protection and support of national industry that contribute substantially and effectively to the development process of the country. They as well stressed that the draft law gives a great boost to the country's iron and steel industry, which proved their quality.
The Council thereafter decided to refer the draft law to its Finance and Economic Affairs Committee for study and preparation of a report thereon to the Council.
At the end of the meeting, the Shura Council reviewed the report submitted by the delegation which participated in the Second International Parliamentary Forum on Sustainable Development held in Bali, Indonesia, which passed the Second Bali Declaration on Sustainable Development ensuring commitment to scale up efforts to raise awareness among parliaments in each participating countries on the importance of sustainable development goals achievement and establishment of the necessary legislations for it.
