A Memorandum of Understanding was signed today at the headquarters of the Shura Council between the Shura Council of the State of Qatar and the Pan-African Parliamentary on parliamentary cooperation between them. The M o U was signed by H. E. Mr. Ahmed Bin Abdulla Bin Zaid Al- Mahmoud, the Speaker of the Shura Council, for the State of Qatar and by H. E. Mr. Al-Hassan Palla Sakandi, President of the Pan-African Parliamentary, and the Chairman of the National Assembly of the Republic of Burkina Faso for the African Parliamentary Union.
Both sides agreed under the provisions of the MoU on establishing a work program for cooperation between the Shura Council and the African Parliamentary Union to promote friendship, exchange of experiences and take joint initiatives on issues of common interest and to strengthen the presence and role of the two parties in international parliamentary forums.
The signing of the MoU took place during a meeting between the two sides, at which they discussed parliamentary relations between the Shura Council and the African Parliamentary Union and explored ways to enhance and bolster them. They as well as reviewed the relations between the Shura Council and the National Assembly of the Republic of Burkina Faso and ways to promote cooperation between them. The meeting also reviewed the issues on the agenda of the (140) Meeting of the General assembly of the IPU which will begins its meetings in Doha next Saturday.
The meeting was attended by H. E. Mr. Mohamed Bin Ali Al-Hanzab, Member of the Shura Council and the Chairman of the Qatari- African friendship group and the members of the group, and H. E. Mr. Adama Compaoré, Ambassador of the Republic of Burkina Faso to Qatar.
