The Shura Council concluded its participation in monitoring the elections in the Republic of Venezuela, where the Council was represented in the participation by His Excellency Dr. Sultan bin Hassan Al-Dhabet Al-Dosari, a member of the Council and Chairman of the Qatari Friendship Group with Latin American and Caribbean Countries.
The Shura Council's participation included several tours of the electoral centers to review the progress of the electoral process and verify its integrity and transparency, with the participation of more than 900 observers from more than 100 countries from all over the world to follow up on the procedures of the electoral process in the various electoral headquarters, which were distinguished by the quality and ease of procedures and the observers' knowledge of the electoral process and meetings with voters to learn about the accuracy and clarity of the electoral process.
As part of the tours of the electoral centers, His Excellency Dr. Sultan bin Hassan Al-Dosari, in the presence of His Excellency Mr. Rashid bin Mohsen bin Ftais, the country's Ambassador to the Republic of Venezuela, participated in the gathering of international observers, in the presence of the Venezuelan President, who delivered a speech in which he praised the effective role of the State of Qatar in supporting friendly countries, especially during the Corona crisis, noting the great support provided by Qatar to his country during the pandemic.
This morning, Venezuela’s electoral authority declared President Nicolás Maduro the winner of the country's presidential election.
This participation reflects the Shura Council's desire to strengthen its international relations and to affirm the commitment of the State of Qatar to support stability and peace throughout the world.
