The Shura Council has affirmed that the leadership of the State of Qatar and its people stand by the Palestinian people and their just cause, providing political, economic, and humanitarian support for all Palestinians and getting the urgent humanitarian relief into the Gaza Strip.

This came in the Shura Council's speech delivered by HE Member of the Shura Council Ahmed bin Sultan Al Aseeri before the 5th conference of the League of Parliamentarians for Al-Quds, held in the Republic of Turkiye under the theme: "Freedom and Independence for Palestine".

His Excellency pointed out that the State of Qatar strives to work with its entire Arab region to halt the wanton Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip, highlighting that its mediation has succeeded in reaching a humanitarian pause deal that included a temporary ceasefire and a prisoner swap deal last November.

He emphasized that the State of Qatar has not been safe from unceasing criticism and accusations unleashed by officials of the Israeli occupation who have been fabricating lies about the Qatari role in the negotiations and mediation efforts in favor of their political objectives.

HE the Member of the Shura Council underscored the importance of the international endeavor to stop the genocide and devastation, sparing the civilians the scourge of unjust aggression and providing protection against genocide and forced displacement.

HE Al Aseeri called for opening an urgent investigation by independent human rights investigators into the existence of mass graves and decomposed bodies of hundreds of martyrs, warning of further crimes by the occupation which prepare to initiate a ground offensive in the city of Rafah that harbors nearly 1.5 million displaced people portending catastrophic consequences.

In conclusion, HE Member of the Shura Council Ahmed bin Sultan Al Aseeri called for joint solidarity and cooperation to stand by the people of Gaza in multiple international forums, support them with all means available and strengthen their desperate quest for freedom and justice.

With the participation of over 700 parliamentarians from 80 countries, alongside a host of political and intellectual elites and representatives of popular movements, the conference revolved around avenues to counter the barbaric aggression on the Gaza Strip, stop the plight of Gazans, counter Judaization of the West Bank and essentially strive to establish an independent Palestinian statehood.

In the final statement, the participants called for criminalizing any act of dealing with the Israeli occupation with the necessary coordination of efforts to prosecute war criminals for perpetrating genocide in Gaza and establish an international legal initiative that garners support from parliamentarians and legislative councils for this purpose. Also, the statement urged the parliaments to enact laws that enhance boycott and criminalize dealing with the occupation and its supporters.
