Speaker of Shura Council Meets with President of Italian Senate

HE Speaker of the Shura Council Ahmed bin Abdullah bin Zaid Al Mahmoud met today with HE President of the Italian Senate Maria Elisabetta Casellati, and her accompanying delegation.
During the meeting, they discussed cooperation relations between the State of Qatar and the Italian Republic and ways of supporting and developing them, especially in the parliamentary field. A number of issues of mutual interest were also discussed.
HE the President of the Italian Senate congratulated HE Speaker of the Shura Council on the great success of the 140th General Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union during its recent meetings in Doha under His Excellency's chairmanship, stressing that the results of these meetings gave a great impetus to joint international parliamentary action. She praised the economic, political and legislative renaissance witnessed by the State of Qatar and the development of the Qatari-Italian relations, stressing its support for the development and strengthening of parliamentary relations between the two friendly countries.
For his part, HE Speaker of the Shura Council praised the great development witnessed in the bilateral relations between the two countries, expressing his aspiration for further cooperation between the Shura Council and the Italian Senate in the coming period.
The meeting was attended by Head of EU-Qatar Parliamentary Friendship Group HE Yousif bin Rashid al Khater and a number of members of the Group and HE Ambassador of the Italian Republic to Qatar Pasquale Salzano.
