The Shura Council will participate in the 17th Plenary Session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Mediterranean (PAM), which will be hosted by the Moroccan Parliament in Rabat on Wednesday and Thursday, with a delegation headed by HE Deputy Speaker of the Shura Council, Dr. Hamda bint Hassan Al Sulaiti.
The two-day session will discuss several priority issues for the Mediterranean region, including human rights issues, threats of terrorist and criminal activities, immigration issues, combating human trafficking, the COVID-19 economic and social repercussions, the repercussions of the Russian-Ukrainian crisis, and the artificial intelligence and its implications for energy efficiency.
Also, the geopolitical groups' meetings, standing committees' meetings, and the 48th PAM Bureau meeting will convene within the session's work. The session will review PAM's activities and reports. It will witness the election of the PAM President for 2023-2024 and the PAM Bureau members.
The Shura Council delegation participating in the session includes several council members.
The PAM Plenary Session approved the permanent membership of the State of Qatar, represented by the Shura Council, during the 16th PAM Plenary Session, which took place in the UAE in March 2022
