The Shura Council participates in the work of the 22nd session of the Arab Commission on Human Rights

With the participation of the Shura Council, the twenty-second session of the Arab Commission on Human Rights (the Arab Charter Commission for Human Rights) of the League of Arab States, which lasts for two days, began today at the headquarters of the General Secretariat of the League of Arab States.

The Council is represented at the work of the session by H.E. Mr. Salim bin Rashid Al-Marakhi, Member of the Council, Member of the Arab Parliament's Committee on Legislative, Legal and Human Rights.

This session discusses Saudi Arabia's first periodic report on human rights as part of the entitlements arising from its accession to the Arab Charter on Human Rights.

The first day's discussions included a review of Saudi Arabia's efforts to nurture and promote human rights, with the Kingdom delegation providing resolutions and actions on this aspect, including equality and non-discrimination, the right to self-determination and the fight against trafficking in human beings.
