Deputy Speaker of Shura Council to QNA: Woman's Participation in Municipal Council Elections Highlights Her Role in National Development Efforts

HE Deputy Speaker of the Shura Council Dr. Hamda bint Hassan Al Sulaiti commended the participation of Qatari women in the various electoral experiences in the country, and in particular in the Central Municipal Council (CMC) elections, whether as candidates or voters, stressing that this participation highlights the important role women play in development efforts and in Qatar National Vision 2030, thanks to the support and guidance of the wise leadership.
In remarks to Qatar News Agency (QNA), Her Excellency noted that statistics confirm the importance of women's role, adding that statistics always indicate high rates of women's participation in each electoral cycle, their turnout to vote, and their selection of candidates based on competency criteria.
She valued the performance of the municipal council members in the previous sessions, their competence and capabilities, which were a key factor in their selection for council membership.
In this regard, HE Deputy Speaker of the Shura Council noted the preparations of various state agencies to hold the Central Municipal Council elections 2023 in its seventh session, praising the efforts made by the Ministry of Interior to make this important event a success.
HE Dr. Al Sulaiti indicated that such preparations will positively reflect on the voting process, and will undoubtedly contribute to facilitating its procedures, expecting that this session of the electoral process for the CMC will witness turnout of the citizens.
In this regard, she noted the experience of the municipal council and the accumulated awareness it formed among members of society.
HE Dr. Hamda Al Sulaiti stated that the experience of the CMC has had a positive impact on popular and political participation since the first municipal elections were held in 1999, expressing her confidence in the voters in choosing their candidates based on the factor of competence, honesty and experience, and calling on them to actively participate in the municipal council elections and review the electoral programs of the candidates.
HE Deputy Speaker of the Shura Council Dr. Hamda bint Hassan Al Sulaiti expressed her sincere wishes for success for all candidates, hoping that the qualified candidate who is keen on the interest of the country and the people would win the membership of the CMC.
