Speaker of Shura Council: CMC Elections Highlight Qatar's Democratic Experience

HE Speaker of the Shura Council Ahmed bin Abdullah bin Zaid Al Mahmoud commended the elections of the Central Municipal Council (CMC) as one of the pillars of "our democratic experience, which was founded by our wise leadership to engage citizens in solving the issues of their society and developing their areas."

In an exclusive statement to Qatar News Agency (QNA), His Excellency said the sixth edition of CMC elections comes when the country has taken great strides in various fields of economic, political, social and cultural development, thanks to the wise policy and directives of HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani. This edition of election comes after the experience of the previous five editions of the CMC proved effective in achieving its objectives, which will constitute an important asset in the work of the Council during the next phase that requires more effort and work in keeping pace with the rapid development witnessed by the country, he added.

Concluding his statement, HE the Speaker of Shura Council thanked the members of the former CMC for their efforts and hard work for the benefit of their country and wished the new members success in performing their role to better perform this national responsibility.
