(Kahramaa) Launches Electric Vehicle Charging Station at Shura Council Building

14 May 2024

Qatar State Electricity and Water Corporation (Kahramaa), in cooperation with the General Secretariat of the Shura Council, launched a high-speed electric vehicle charging station today at the Council's headquarters in the presence of a number of officials from both sides.

The station, with a capacity of 150 kW, is capable of charging two vehicles at the same time in less than 15 minutes. The terminal will make it easier for Council staff and users of electric vehicles to access advanced charging solutions, encouraging a faster transition towards the use of electric vehicles and supporting the country's carbon emission reduction efforts.

The launch of this plant is part of Kahramaa's efforts to provide an integrated system that supports sustainability and achieves the requirements of the smart grid, and encourages the adoption of sustainable transport solutions, by reducing harmful carbon emissions, in order to reach its goal of achieving full carbon neutrality in 2050. Kahramaa, represented by the National Rationalization and Energy Efficiency Management Programme "Rationalization", plays a significant role in expanding the network of the State's electric vehicle charging stations.

The Shura Council also supports initiatives that support the country's strategic plans towards reducing carbon emissions. It commends the efforts of Qatar's Public Electricity and Water Corporation to realize the country's vision of promoting sustainable development and supporting the use of clean technology.
