The 14th Conference of Union of Councils of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Member States and the associated meetings came to a close, in which HE Speaker of the Shura Council Ahmed bin Abdullah bin Zaid Al Mahmoud chaired the delegation of the State of Qatar,
At the end of its four-day conference, the conference adopted the "Rabat Declaration", in which participants stressed the importance of democracy and the state of institutions, respect and preservation of human rights in the progress of society and its development and stability as a societal need.
They also affirmed the centrality of the Palestinian cause, affirming their solidarity with the Palestinian people in order to attain their legitimate rights to establish their independent state with Jerusalem as its capital in accordance with the relevant UN resolutions.
The declaration stated the historic and spiritual status of the city of Jerusalem to the Islamic peoples, condemning the settlement activities and violations committed by the Israeli occupation authorities against the Islamic and Christian monuments and against the right of the city's residents aimed at altering its character and identity.
