Shura Council Members Meet Parliamentarians Visiting for World Cup

Their Excellencies Members of the Shura Council, Dr. Sultan bin Hassan Al Dosari, HE Khalid bin Ahmed Al Obaidan, HE Ahmed bin Hitmi Al Hitmi, and HE Nasser bin Metrif Al Hemeidi met today with HE Deputy Speaker of the Lebanese Parliament Elias Bou Saab, HE Second Deputy Speaker of the Arab Parliament and Member of the Jordanian House of Representatives Khalil Atieh, HE Member of the Jordanian Parliament Andre Atieh, HE Secretary-General of the Inter-Parliamentary Union Martin Chungong, HE Member of Swedish Parliament Cecilia Widegren, who are currently visiting the country to attend some of the events of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022.

At the beginning of the meeting, the members of the Shura Council welcomed the country's guests, wishing them a pleasant stay and an enjoyable World Cup experience, in an edition that seeks to bring people together, to hold a cultural exchange and deepen friendship.

For their part, the parliamentarians expressed their happiness to part take, thanking the government and people of Qatar for the warm welcome and their hospitality, and praising in this context the development that the State of Qatar is undergoing.

The parliamentarians expressed their admiration for the World Cup preparations and organization that they witnessed, wishing Qatar all the success in hosting this tournament.

During the meeting, a number of issues related to parliamentary work and ways to strengthen parliamentary relations were discussed.

On the sidelines of the meeting, the guests toured the Shura Council building and the Tamim bin Hamad Hall, during which they were briefed on the council's work mechanisms and the latest technologies used in conducting the work of sessions and committees.

The guests also toured the Shura Council exhibition, which contains a collection of records, speeches and collectibles that narrate the history of the Shura Council since its establishment in 1972 and commemorating its members and their legislative efforts.
