Voronkov: Qatar is a major supporter of the UN in combating terrorism

Vladimir Ivanovich Voronkov, Under-Secretary for United Nations Counter-Terrorism Office, has stressed that Qatar is one of the major financers of the UN Counter-Terrorism Office .
He pointed out that Qatar provides a strong support to this office and there is close and active cooperation with Qatar in enhancing the efforts of combating violent extremism. Qatar will also host World FIFA Cup 2022, which would in turn participate towards pushing forward the counter-terrorism activities.
Vornokov was speaking during his presentation of the UN Global Counter-Terrorism Strategy at the Committee on Peace and International Security held on Sunday morning as part of the IPU 140, which is going on in Doha during April 6-10.
