HE Shura Council Member and Chairman of Qatari-Uzbek Parliamentary Friendship Group, Eng. Ahmed bin Hitmi Al Hitmi hailed the relations between the State of Qatar and the Republic of Uzbekistan as deep, solid and booming amid the two countries' keenness to enhance and develop them.
Speaking to Qatar News Agency (QNA), coinciding HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thanis visit to Uzbekistan, on the first leg of a Central Asia tour, His Excellency hailed the steady growth the Qatar-Uzbekistan relations are witnessing in various fields, particularly the bilateral parliamentary relations across a series of mutual visits and bilateral meetings, which laid solid foundations for bilateral cooperation and coordination of positions on issues of common interest.
The two sides have held parliamentary meetings in recent years, including a meeting between HE Shura Council Speaker Hassan bin Abdulla Al Ghanim and HE Chairperson of the Senate of the Republic of Uzbekistan Tanzila Narbaeva, on the sidelines of the Fifth United Nations Conference on the Least Developed Countries, which was held in Doha in March.
HE Al Hitmi said that the meeting discussed the bilateral parliamentary cooperation relations, and ways to enhance and develop them, with both sides having stressed the need to coordinate positions and viewpoints in international parliamentary forums, to serve issues of common concern.
His Excellency also pointed to meetings that brought together Shura Council members and ministers and officials from the Republic of Uzbekistan that discussed ways to bolster parliamentary relations and issues of interest to both sides.
HE Al Hitmi affirmed that the Qatari-Uzbek Parliamentary Friendship Group contributes to boosting the bonds of bilateral parliamentary relations between the two countries, and opens up horizons to further consolidate rapprochement between the two friendly peoples.
