The Shura Council State of Qatar

HE Speaker of Shura Council Ahmed bin Abdullah bin Zaid Al Mahmoud welcomed the Arab Group of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU), which held a coordination meeting at the Sheraton Hotel. The meeting was chaired by HE President of the group and Speaker of the Jordanian House of Representatives Atef Tarawneh with heads of the Arab parliaments participating. The meeting is held ahead of the 140th Assembly of the IPU that begins Saturday in Doha.

HE the Speaker of the Shura Council expressed his hope that participants in the meetings will get to know the State of Qatar's legacy and its people's generosity. His Excellency also expressed hope that participants can witness the comprehensive renaissance in all fields in the State of Qatar. His Excellency stressed that they can consider Qatar not just their second home, but their first, and that the assembly is one for all Arabs.

For his part, Al Tarawneh said that there are a number of subjects that can be discussed in this important democratic event, in reference to the consultative meeting that precedes the 140th IPU Assembly and Related Meetings.
