The Shura Council State of Qatar

His Excellency Mr. Hassan bin Abdullah Al-Ghanim, Speaker of the Shura Council, met today with Dr. Mohammed Ahmed Al-Mulla, Director of Tobacco Control Center at Hamad Medical Corporation.

During the meeting, which was held in the Council building, the Centre's activities and its preventive and curative services were discussed at various government health institutions. The talk included the Centre's recent "Together for Smoke-Free Councils" initiative. The Shura Council's role in supporting and promoting those efforts was also reviewed.

In this context, His Excellency the Speaker of the Shura Council commended the Centre's role and efforts in raising awareness of the damage of smoking, combating it and ways of quitting it, noting the health and medical care provided by the State to citizens and residents, to preserve the health of the community and prevent diseases, in line with the objectives of the Qatar National Vision 2030.

The meeting was attended by the Deputy Speaker of the Shura Council and members of the Council's Bureau. It was also attended by a number of officials of the Tobacco Control Center.
