Shura Council Participates in Meeting of Association of Secretaries-General of Arab Parliaments in Cairo

 The Shura Council participated in the 45th meeting of the General Assembly of the Association of Secretaries-General of Arab Parliaments, which was held Thursday at the Egyptian House of Representatives in Cairo.

The Council was represented at the meeting by HE Secretary-General of the Shura Council Nayef bin Mohammed Al Mahmoud.

The meeting witnessed the election of the President of the Assembly, with HE Dr. Mohammed bin Dakhil Al Mutairi, Secretary-General of the Shura Council of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia winning by acclamation as President of the Association of Secretaries-General of Arab Parliaments. Supplementary elections were also held for members of the Executive Office.

During the meeting, the amendment of the association's bylaws was discussed, in addition to a number of topics related to enhancing the work of the association and developing mechanisms for cooperation between the general secretariats of Arab parliaments, which contributes to raising the efficiency of parliamentary performance and exchanging experiences and expertise between legislative institutions in Arab countries.

On the sidelines of the participation, HE Secretary-General of the Shura Council Nayef bin Mohammed Al Mahmoud met with HE Secretary-General of the House of Representatives of the Arab Republic of Egypt Counsellor Ahmed Ezzat Manna and discussed aspects of cooperation between the two sides.

The two sides stressed the importance of exchanging expertise and learning about successful experiences in the field of work of the General Secretariat, in addition to enhancing continuous coordination between the two sides to achieve the common goals.
