Shura Council Speaker Meets Turkmen Parliament Delegation

HE Speaker of the Shura Council Hassan bin Abdullah Al Ghanim met on Wednesday with a parliamentary delegation that included members of the Turkmenistan-Qatar Parliamentary Friendship Group in the Parliament of the Republic of Turkmenistan. The delegation is visiting the country, headed by HE Chairman of the Legislative Committee of the Parliament Batyr Baylyyev.

At the outset of the meeting, HE the Speaker of the Shura Council welcomed the head and members of the delegation, commending the Friendship Group's role in strengthening parliamentary relations between the two countries.

His Excellency also voiced his hope that this visit would contribute to strengthening cooperation between the two councils, emphasizing that the visit represents an important step towards strengthening the frameworks of coordination and consultation between the two councils in a way that serves Islamic parliamentary issues and the common interests of the two friendly countries and peoples.

The meeting was attended by HE Deputy Speaker of the Shura Council Dr. Hamda bint Hassan Al Sulaiti, HE Chairman of the Turkmenistan-Qatar Parliamentary Friendship Group Eng. Ahmad bin Hitmi Al Hitmi, along with HE Saad bin Ahmed Al Mohannadi, HE Saoud bin Jassim Al Buainain, HE Yousef bin Ahmed Al Sada, and HE Nasser bin Metrif Al Hemeidi, members of the Turkmenistan-Qatar Parliamentary Friendship Group.

In a related context, the parliamentary friendship groups between the State of Qatar and the Republic of Turkmenistan held a meeting, during which ways to enhance parliamentary cooperation between the two sides were discussed, and views were exchanged on a number of issues of common interest.

The meeting also discussed mechanisms for coordinating parliamentary efforts to support Islamic issues in various parliamentary forums and ways to enhance continuous communication between the two councils for the benefit of the two friendly countries and peoples.
