Student Delegation from Hamad Bin Khalifa University Visits the Shura Council

15 April 2025

A student delegation from the College of Public Policy at Hamad Bin Khalifa University visited the Shura Council today, with the aim of learning about the Council’s functions, its legislative mechanisms, and the nature of its work.
As part of the orientation program, the delegation—which included more than twenty students—attended a lecture delivered by Mr. Ahmed Sultan Al-Ghanim, Director of the Sessions and Committees Affairs Department, and Mr. Mohammed Ibrahim Al-Sheikh, Director of the Legislative Affairs Department at the General Secretariat. The lecture covered the Council’s journey spanning over half a century and its contribution to achieving national development goals, in addition to its legislative and oversight responsibilities carried out in accordance with the State Constitution and the Council’s internal regulations.
During the visit, the participants received a presentation on the organizational structure of the Council, which consists of four main bodies: the Presidency, the Council Bureau, the Standing Committees, and the General Secretariat. They were briefed on the responsibilities of each body.
The student delegation also toured the Council’s documentation exhibition, which includes a collection of minutes, speeches, and artifacts that reflect the history of the Shura Council since its establishment in 1972.
The organization of such visits stems from the General Secretariat’s commitment to strengthening community engagement and fostering communication with various segments of society.
