Deputy Speaker of Shura Council holds bilateral meetings on the sidelines of the “Investing in Women’s Participation in Political Life” Forum in Jordan

Her Excellency Dr. Hamda bint Hassan Al-Sulaiti, Deputy Speaker of the Shura Council, held bilateral meetings today with a number of officials, on the sidelines of her participation in the “Investing in Women’s Participation in Political Life” forum held in the Jordanian capital, Amman.
Her Excellency met with Her Excellency Mrs. Wafa Bani Mustafa, Minister of Social Development, Head of the Ministerial Committee for Women's Empowerment in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan.
During the meetings, a number of topics on the forum's agenda were discussed, and views were exchanged on various issues and topics of common interest. The discussion also included addressing the Coalition of Women Parliamentarians from Arab Countries to Combat Violence against Women, where Her Excellency, who is a member of the coalition, reviewed the efforts of this non-profit organization that includes women parliamentarians from various legislative councils from a number of Arab countries, in order to advance the status of Arab women, identify mechanisms for supporting them, enhancing their role, and enhancing their participation in building Arab societies, and achieving their goals in comprehensive development and social and societal justice.
Her Excellency met with Ms. Nafart Taminyan, Deputy Resident Director of the Middle East and North Africa Region of the National Democratic Institute, in the presence of Mr. Ali Al-Omari, Director of the Institute's programme. The Forum's main themes and practices in promoting women's rights and participation in public and political life and the importance of enhancing their participation in decision-making at the national and international levels were addressed. A number of topics related to strengthening parliamentary cooperation between the two sides were also reviewed.
