The Shura Council State of Qatar

HE Speaker of the Shura Council Hassan bin Abdullah Al Ghanim, and a delegation from the Council participated today in the 211th session of the Governing Council of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU), as part of the work of the 146th General Assembly of the Union, which is currently being held in Bahrain.

At the beginning of the session, the meeting approved the meeting schedule, then approved the summary of the report of the 210th session of the Union, which was held in Rwanda in 2022.

During the meeting, HE President of the Inter-Parliamentary Union Duarte Pacheco reviewed the activities of the presidency since the previous Governing Council meeting, as well as the activities of the Executive Committee.

For his part, HE Secretary-General of the IPU Martin Chungong, reviewed the 2022 report, followed by the inauguration of the IPU climate campaign entitled "Parliaments for the Planet" to mobilize parliaments and parliamentarians in order to work on the climate emergency.

The meeting of the Governing Council witnessed the discussion of a number of other items on the agenda, such as the financial situation of the union, the activities of the various committees, and others
