HE Speaker of the Advisory Council Ahmed bin Abdullah bin Zaid Al Mahmoud and his accompanying delegation arrived Thursday in Geneva to participate in the 139th Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) and related meetings, which will be held from 14 to 18 October.
This session, which entitled "parliamentary leadership in promoting peace and development in the age of innovation and technological change", discusses a number of issues related to enhancing parliamentary cooperation in the area of migration in the light of the adoption of the global compact for migration, and democracy and human rights issues. It also reviews the reports of the Committee on Peace and International Security, the Committee on Sustainable Development, Finance and Trade, the Committee on United Nations Affairs and other issues on the agenda. Over 1300 MPs and parliamentary staff will participate in the session.
