Today, the Shura Council participated in a parliamentary seminar organized by the Inter-Parliamentary Union on the occasion of the tenth anniversary of the entry into force of the Arms Trade Treaty, via online.
The Shura Council was represented at the seminar by His Excellency Mr. Mohammed bin Fahd Al-Musallam, a member of the Council.
The Webinar, which was held under the title "The First Decade of the Arms Trade Treaty: Parliamentary Participation for a World Free of Armed Violence", addressed the importance of enhancing the role of parliaments in supporting and implementing the Arms Trade Treaty, and the need to address challenges related to illicit arms flows.
The seminar also focused on highlighting the role of parliamentarians in combating armed violence and promoting global peace and stability, in addition to exchanging parliamentary expertise and good practices, and working to develop concrete steps to enhance international cooperation and ensure the effective implementation of the treaty.
