The Shura Council participated in the meetings of the Standing Committee on Economic Affairs and Sustainable Development of the Asian Parliamentary Assembly (APA), which concluded Monday in Manama, Bahrain.
During the two-day meetings, the Shura Council was represented by HE Member of the Shura Council and Vice President of the APA Eng. Ahmed bin Hitmi Al Hitmi and HE Shura Council Member Saoud bin Jassim Al Buainain.
The committee meetings discussed Asian economic and development issues, and the coordination of parliamentary efforts to support sustainable development goals. Draft resolutions supporting parliamentary cooperation on economic and climate issues were also discussed.
In his remarks during the meeting, HE Eng. Ahmed Al Hitmi discussed the State of Qatar's efforts in the process of economic diversification and the efforts aimed at attracting investment, in an effort to achieve Qatar National Vision 2030 in establishing a diversified and competitive economy based on knowledge and innovation.
HE Eng. Ahmed bin Hitmi Al Hitmi and HE Saoud bin Jassim Al Buainain participated in the meeting of the APA Executive Office, where the report of the APA Secretary-General was discussed, in addition to discussing the draft resolutions of the standing committees, including the project to support Asian parliaments for the Palestinian people, and the draft planning of the APA's budget for the year 2025.
