The Shura Council held its regular weekly session today under the chairmanship of His Excellency Mr. Ahmed bin Abdulla bin Zaid Al Mahmoud, Speaker of the Council.
At the beginning of the session, the Council discussed a draft law amending some provisions of Decree No. (17) of 2010 organizing the National Human Rights Commission. After the discussions the Council decided to approve the draft law and to refer its recommendations thereon to the esteemed Government.
The Council also discussed a draft law on the Protection of Drawings and Industrial Designs. The draft law contains 38 articles, under which a special register will be made at the Industrial Property Protection Office of the Ministry of Commerce, for registration, declaration, transfer of ownership, licenses and other issues relating to fees and the industrial designs, in accordance with the rules and procedures set by the executive regulations.
After the discussions, the Council referred the draft law to its Finance and Economic Affairs Committee for consideration and to submit its report thereon to the Council.
